Fouth and Fifth Grade

Welcome  to District 65’s reading program for Fourth and Fifth Graders  - Bibliomania! This program has one purpose: letting our students read wonderful stories and give them the opportunity to express their learning.

Fourth and Fifth Grade students are encouraged to read from carefully selected lists of books.
There will be two lists this year A and B. Students are challenged to compete both lists.
Each list has 6 books.
Lincolnwood Superstars will start with List B then move on to List A in February.

Bibliomania books are available at the The Evanston Public Library,
as well as on Sora and Destiny Discover in both e-book and audio book format.

Reading and Projects for Book List B are due at the end of January.
Reading and Projects for List A are due at the end of May.

Upon completion of reading a book, students are asked to produce a project to show understanding of plot and characters. A list of possible prjects is bleow.Need help getting started?

Bluestem Award Book Club
2019 - 2020
Picture

The Bluestem Award is designed for students in  grades 3-5 who are ready for longer titles than found on  the Monarch list, but not quite ready for the sophistication  of some of the Rebecca Caudill titles.

Named in honor of Big Bluestem, which is the Illinois state Prairie grass, the award may include both timeless  classics and current titles, as well as books that have appeared on the Monarch and Rebecca Caudill lists.

Students are challenged to read 5 Bluestem books (or more!) and complete a project for each.
The project choices are: slide show, 90 Second Summary, or an art project of their choice.
Each project has to show understanding of book's plot, characters and message. The deadline for reading 5 books is January 27, 2020.
A celebratory lunch will be held for those who complete the challenge

All titles will be available in our school library, the North Branch and the Main Branch of the EPL.
Ebooks and audio books are available.
